about ↓
Oskar De Roover is a furniture designer and interior architect based in Antwerp, Belgium.
Having grown up in the family of Belgian modernist architect Jul De Roover, Oskar has always been surrounded by beautiful art and good architecture. His design philosophy is one of simplicity and playfulness, combining care for materials with a love for symmetry and proportions. After obtaining his master’s degree in interior architecture with great distinction at the University of Antwerp, he briefly worked as a designer and draftsman for a carpenter. Here, Oskar first started working with leftover materials, which would become a recurring theme in his work. After these first experiments with furniture design, he started working as an interior architect for bruno haenen architekten, where he still works on residential, commercial and industrial projects of different scales with his (engineer) architect colleagues.
Simultaneously, Oskar started his own practice as a freelance designer, working for private clients and developing his first (furniture) objects. His objects and spaces are sustainable, playful, and simple. All his designs start from the belief that good design is durable, not only in ecological terms, but in that it should make people feel happy for years to come.
His work has been shown at the duo exhibition “De Roover De Roover”, at Milan Design Week 2024 and has been published in Knack Weekend and Sabato Magazine.
