The “birthday cakes” series grows from the same foundations as my earlier work: salvaged natural stone, stainless steel, and a commitment to reversible construction. Yet these objects explore that language in a new way.

Instead of large slabs with minimal intervention, this series begins with smaller fragments of reclaimed stone, pieces that would normally remain outside my practice. Through cutting and drilling, these fragments are transformed into circular bases whose sculptural presence remains intact while opening new possibilities.

A series of holes passes through the stone. Into the openings, stainless steel tubes can be inserted.Their connection relies on small 3D-printed elements that create a tight friction fit between stone and steel. No glue is used, allowing the materials to remain clearly separated and fully reusable.

The tubes come in different lengths and can be rearranged at any moment. Some positions may remain empty, others filled with candles. The composition is never fixed, and everyone can create their own rhythm of heights and light.
